Governor Inslee tends to speak
in sound bites. His statements
do not need to make sense.
We wrote, earlier this year that our newly anointed Governor Inslee was an empty suit. Unfortunately, we gave the new governor too much credit, and it appears that he has managed to fill that suit with ineptitude and incompetence. We should also add the words ineffective, inexperience, and ignorance to the list of appropriate adjectives that begin with the letter “I” to describe our newest governor.
However, we would prefer to buy a new vowel and just use the word “embarrassing.” Our newest governor is an embarrassment, not just to the Democrat Party (which is fine, and frankly – they are used to it), but to our state, which is less palatable to those who actually care.
Let’s ignore the fact that Inslee is incoherent most of the time. His speeches were always just poll-tested sound bites during his election campaign, but his handlers appear to have decided to drop the polls and just give him random sound bites like nobody will notice. Anyone who bothered to pay attention to Inslee and watched his ignorant performance in the debate with McKenna knew that Inslee had no clue. Fortunately for Inslee, nobody watched the debates.
Tom Wroblewski, President of the Boeing Machinists
has no problems lying to Inslee and making him look
foolish. Tom realizes Governor Inslee deserves
no respect from him or his union.
Secondly, the Governor calls this “emergency” special session, drags the legislators from around the state to Olympia and then there are only two bills for them to consider. The first was a special tax loophole for Boeing to extend their B&O tax break from 2024 to 2040. The second was a fairly innocuous worker training bill. Neither bill was controversial, and both were passed and signed during the session. However, even Seattle public-school educated students could tell you there was nothing in either of those two bills that couldn’t wait until the regular session in January. Nothing. No emergency. Just a pointless, grand-standing stunt by the Governor as he squanders whatever minimal political capital and respect he still has.

themselves as a protest of some type.
Then, just to impress the taxpayers of the State of Washington, in an impressive temper tantrum of self-immolation, the Boeing Machinists Union voted against their sweetheart contract anyway. At first, we were dumbfounded that the Governor was blindsided by this vote. It looked like once again, our Governor was clueless. However, the truth is even worse than just another stumble by Inslee.
According to union sources, the reason why the Governor was surprised by the Machinist Union vote is that the Machinists Union president Tom Wroblewski and the reps from the International Union told Governor Inslee the deal would happen. They lied to the Governor, and the contract vote failed by 67%. The political significance of this vote is that even Governor Inslee’s friends, allies, and campaign donors don’t worry about Inslee. Even they don’t care if this Governor stands up there looking like an idiot. They have no fear of this guy.
The Boeing Machinists are happy to vote "NO" and make
Governor Inslee look like an idiot. This is good sport.
One thing about politics, regardless of which party to which you belong, there are a few simple truths. While every politician wants to be loved, it is better to be feared than loved in politics. Nobody has any fear of political consequences from Inslee, and few have enough enthusiasm to love him either. Even his friends and allies mock him behind his back, and as displayed recently, have no problem making him look like a fool to the rest of the state.
When Inslee vetoed the CRC bridge funding in the most recent session, he also overestimated his political capital, and the majority caucus in the state senate failed to respond and pass the higher CRC funding Governor Inslee demanded. So instead, he got nothing for that boondoggle. The Governor looked like an idiot on this one as well.

Now, our dear Governor plans to get a major gas tax passed in another “special” emergency session. Clearly this can wait until next year. It should wait until next year, particularly since the next WADOT study report won’t be released until January, and this report should provide additional relevant information on what can be done to improve the incompetence at this hopelessly troubled state agency as well.
We want to be realistic and realize that stupid politicians can be elected. This is no crime and it does happen on occasion. However, we also expect to be protected from the idiots by intelligent staff. Where are the handlers, advisors, and paid helpers who can protect the Inslee gaff machine from making these stupid, high-profile mistakes? They are nowhere to be found. Possibly this might be because he has hired so many out-of-state folk and put them in charge of the show. There are a lot of disgruntled senior staff in Olympia not very happy with being passed over for one of these Inslee appointees.
Governor Inslee is a great example of what happens when there is a strong political party supporting even the most ignorant and weak candidate for office. Even an idiot can win the race. However, now we are stuck with this guy until 2016, and despite the inevitable gaffs, screw-ups, embarrassments, and incompetence, someone will have to buck the trend to beat Inslee. Would another Democrat be willing to challenge this guy? Or will the Republicans remain fractured and unfocused in an effort to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory once again? Only time will tell, until that day comes our state will continue to suffer under a man completely unqualified to lead Washington State.
Governor Inslee -worse than just an empty suit.
