Liz Pike (R-Camas) is considering legislation that will allow Wash. teachers to conceal-carry handguns

Liz Pike (R-Camas) is considering legislation that will allow
teachers in Washington to conceal-carry handguns in
schools. Her legislation is modeled after the pilot's post-911
protection laws.
Liz Pike (R-Camas) is a newly-elected Washington State Representative, and she's not wasting any time proposing legislation. She is entering the upcoming session with a mission to make Wash. schools safer, and frame the gun debate in the wake of the recent Sandy Hook catastrophe.

Her idea is to model a teacher concealed-carry law after the post-911 pilot's law. She proposes that any teacher who would like to conceal-carry a handgun first go through background and psychological checks and a training program--at the teacher's expense.

Her idea would allow each school district to independently choose if they want to adopt the law, and who carries a handgun would be confidential.
Every school district would get to choose if teachers can carry weapons. Pike said it would be confidential and only law enforcement and the superintendent would know which teachers have weapons. [Incoming Washington lawmaker proposes arming teachers]
She says the biggest benefit of the law is that it would create significant doubt if (and how many) teachers are armed--a psychological edge that is currently missing in our schools today because schools are all currently  deemed "gun free zones". Pike says this doubt will create a deterrent for people planning to terrorize schools in the future.

She recently posted an idea on her Facebook account and solicited input.

Her proposal has already drawn criticism from proponents aiming for stricter gun control.
